Keymaster❓
I’m hoping someone can point me in the right direction. I have a Scandinova FrostFree FridgeFreezer – about 3 years old,
model no. FF6-6845 s/no. 20013807792 (from Comet)It’s always worked well, but was in storage for 5 months prior to our move to France. Here it works almost correctly – the fridge is fine but the freezer fails to maintain a sufficiently cold temperature (I’ve had to put a thermometer inside). The thermostats seem to work as I can hear the compressor “click” on when I adjust the temp dial.
Sometimes it sounds like the fan inside isn’t working properly – yet if I switch the freezer into “superfreeze” mode the fan spins into life and very quickly the temperature is correct. Also if I happen to hear the fan struggling, a quick switch on & off of the superfreeze gets the fan going OK for its cycle.
I know there’s a timer on the back panel which adjusts the defrosting delay – should I adjust this?
Any help or pointers would be gratefully received, before I have to call out a French engineer and lose many euros! 🙁 . Also I don’t think Scandinova is available in France – so is it repairable?
Can I just leave it on superfreeze all the time? – I’m guessing probably not, otherwise could there be anything to do with the French electricity supply – it’s the same as Uk ie. 230w and 50h which matches the Fridge’s label.
I’ve supplied all the info I can think of – and would be happy for any advice.
Thanks
Chris

That sounds as though whatever switches the fan on is the problem, it may well be the timer unless it is an electronically controlled unit (sorry no tech info on this, Comet exclusive by the looks of it).
You can’t adjust the timer as it times the defrost function of the whole unit, there is no adjustment as such.
You could try and get the timer from Comet here on +44 (01132) 310523 a French engineer would be able to fit for you, although I would recommend a proper diagnosis first.
Dave.
