ParticipantI have a problem with my Schreiber Integrated Larder Fridge. Schreiber APM 6325 SX. A large quantity of ice was forming on the rear plastic wall from the top down – over an inch thick at the top tapering to about halfway down the rear panel. I have defrosted the fridge. On restarting there appears to be no cooling at all. The fridge appears to be running OK … thermostat shuts down light and all noises at 0. There is a gurgling sound when operating. Can you advise what is the likely cause of the fridge not cooling.
Thanks.

Hi,
Is it cooling after you allowed it to defrost?
It sounds like a classic overheating one due to installation, which likely means its been killed. 🙁

The fridge has been in place for seven years. This is the first time ice has formed inside the fridge – over the last few months. This is also the first time I have had to empty it, shut it down and allow it to defrost. Only once it was restarted did the problem start i.e. no cooling (in fact, no cold at all).
Thanks for the input.
Cheers.

This can be – shortage of refrigerant causing the motor to run constantly, this results in a build up of ice on the backwall but not enought gas to get down to the correct temperature. Motor continues to run and without good ventilation overheats and cuts out on its internal thermal cut out. Sometimes this results in total seizure of the motor other times you get lucky and can get it recharged by a fridge engineer. Point to note the refrigerant is used not only to cool the food but also to cool the motor, no refrigerant no cooling.
