We have had a Schreiber APM6325 SX integrated larder fridge for around five years now, it has worked fine until fairly recently.

The probelm we now have is that it isnt getting very cold, regardless of what the temperature control knob is set at..

Also one of the hinges broke a couple of years ago (a piece of tensile steel broke, which I presume was acting as a spring) but the door still appears to open & close ok, its just a bit clunky as you open the door it drops a little, then lifts back into place as you close it again.

I am an electrical engineer (working on access control systems) but have little experience with fridges.. Could it just need a new stat? If so I will order a new stat and will get a new hinge at the same time..

Where abouts is the stat located in this fridge, is it fairly easy to get at to change?

    Kind regards
    Steve

    Hi Steve,

Can you keep it to one thread please? Thanks.

It is almost certainly the stat that’s gone.

    This is the stat

Two different hinges top and bottom depend on the configuration both available, HERE and HERE

    Hope that helps.

Thanks for your swift reply, I will get a new stat and hinge on order..

Do you know where the stat is located on this model & is it accessible from inside or will I have to pull the fridge out?

    Kind regards
    Steve

PS. Sorry about the duplicated thread I wasnt sure if I posted it under the right topic (so many similar topics)..

it shouldn’t be too hard a fit, the fridge thermostat is located behind the light switch and the phial will extend to the evaporator box (ice box) somewhere. I’ve not done one personally but it just looks like a standard small fridge.

You should be able to do it without drawing the machine out.

One other thing before I start ordering parts..

I presume the stat is what makes the compressor come on and off..
The fridge sounds as if its running all the time?

Are there any tests I can do to verify what the fault is? Bypass the stat etc

    Kind regards

Re: SCHREIBER INTEGRATED APM6325 SX LARDER FRIDGE

    Hi Steve,

Yes the stat switches the compressor on and off and if it’s running all the time then this is almost certainly the failure. It could be a weak compressor but that would show as running all the time but not cooling properly.

Bypassing the stat often end with a bang. 😉

Such a thing does not exist. The best we usually ever get is a parts list and, beyond that, you’re on your own.

Re: SCHREIBER INTEGRATED APM6325 SX LARDER FRIDGE

The parts turned up this morning (very impressive service)..

I have replaced the stat and the hinge, relatively straight forward procedures.

However, the fridge still doesn’t seem to be cooling.. It has been on since around 2pm this afternoon and it doesnt feel chilled in there yet..

I have checked the door seal and that looks to be making a good seal..

    UPDATE 10:45 am :-

Its now Tuesday morning, the fridge has been on overnight and its still not getting cool….

Being a technical support engineer, I am used to making checks to help pin-point problems, but as my expertise is with access control systems and not fridges, I am relying on your advice.. Is there anything else I can check, or anything I can do to help pin-point what the problem is ?

    Relevant information:-
Previous to the fridge developing this problem, I noticed it was building ice on the back panel, near the top of the fridge, but this is supposed to be a “frost-free” fridge. At the time I thought it was a little strange, I pryed the ice from the back panel and removed it from the fridge.. It was shortly after this that I noticed the fridge wasnt cooling properly..!

I have pulled the fridge out to see if I can spot anything obvious.. The compressor is running constantly and it is red hot !!!!!

I have decided to switch it off for now as the fridge isnt cooling and its probably costing a small fortune in electricity keeping it running..

Oh one other thing…. When I removed the old stat, I noticed a tiny drop of water coming out of the tube where the probe wire goes?? is this normal? Condensation perhaps? or a sign of something else?

It’s a nightmare trying to keep things fresh in these warm temperatures, so I would like to get it working again as quicly as possible, any help or advice would be greatly appreciated…

    Kind regards
    Steve

That bit I didn’t know until now and it casts a whole different light on things. 😕

If the compressor is running that hot then it is possible that it is pumping weak. It is also possible that, when it’s been running continually, that it has in effect burnt the compressor out.

The only advice that I can offer is to let it cool off and then fire it up and see what happens, if it does the same thing than the compressor is goosed and it then becomes a much more expensive repair, if it is even viable. 🙁

Not good news, but I hope it helps.

Its been back on for a while now, the compressor is running but the fridge is not even getting the slightest bit cool..
I guess its the compressor thats goosed 😥

Suppose I will have to look at buying a new fridge :rolls:
Just wish I hadnt forked out on a stat & new door hinge for it now!!

    Thanks for your help..

    Steve

Dont suppose you know anyone who wants an almost new stat and top left door hinge, one carefull owner !!!!!!!!

    Hey Steve

I’m in the marked for a stat and a hinge for a Schreiber APM 6325.

    Do you still have them?
