    Hi

Ive just purchased some replacement hinges for my schriber built-in fridge.

    1 x 246009700 – Hygena, Diplomat, Necht & Others Fridge Door Hinge = £18.55
    1 x 246009800 – Hygena, Diplomat, Necht & Others Fridge Door Hinge = £18.55

The springs in the old hinges had both snapped.

Ive fitted the new ones exactly as the old ones but the door either stops short of closing or if slammed bounces open. You can ‘press’ it shut but it did close properly when we first had it from new.

Any ideas, am I doing something wrong?

    thanks

    Hi,
Have you fitted the exact same hinges, as you took off ? There are a few that will fit but are not the same. 😕

When you say press it shut?? the hinge should help it close the last few inches.

Most doors will bounce if slammed

they were the hinges advertised here to fit my make of fridge but the difference is that the ‘bent up’ bit at the edge of the hinge is the width of the hinge in the old one but it comes down(up) – towards the middle of the fridge on the new ones and Im not sure its not this that is touching the seal and stopping the door close without having to push it shut. There is a slight indended line in the metal – am I supposed to cut this off?

    Hi,

No you shouldn’t have to cut or alter the hinges in any way at all.

Is there something stopping the door from closing, such as the door touching the worktop or similar as it doesn’t take a lot of resistance to stop the door from closing?

The only other thing I can think of is if the hinge mounting points are somehow damaged.

We sell, literally, hundreds of these hinges a year and have had absolutely no issues with fitting them.

The only point of possible contact is the tabs on the hinge I mentioned. The hinges screwed into the existing holes with no problems.

I’ve no idea then without seeing it, I’d have to assume that’s something’s out of alignment though as it’s pretty much all it can be really.

Those hinges don’t bend, they snap if you get too rough with them and I’ve never seen one, in probably a good couple thousand over the years, that was bent.

If you bought them from us then there’s no issue sending them back and we’ll have a look at them though. Just email spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for instruction.

    K.
