ParticipantHi
Sorry for the unoriginal subject, because I know this ground has kind-of been covered before, but …
My integrated larder fridge (Schreiber APM6325 SX, S/N 20012902885) stopped working a couple of days ago. By stopped working, I mean than that it no longer cools nor indeed makes any sound. The light still works.
So, the question is: should I attempt to test/replace the thermostat as my first option, or if the compressor is the more likely culprit is there any way that I (a non-expert) can diagnose the problem?
If replacing the thermostat is a viable option, how do I get to it? It’s presumably located at the top of the fridge at the other end of the plastic control knob, but I can’t fathom how it can be accessed without some dismantling of the fridge housing and/or pulling the fridge forward out of the kitchen unit. The control knob is located within a plastic panel (105mmx20mm) that also houses the light switch, but this doesn’t feel removable and surely is too small to grant sufficient access to the thermostat and its connections.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

If it is not making any noise then it will need a new thermostat.
You will need to pull the fridge out from under the work top by about 6 inches.
The thermostat is under the small cover on top of the fridge.
Make sure you disconnect the power before removing the cover.

Thanks Bob
Next question: how do I detach the fridge from its housing unit in order to pull it forward out of the unit? The easy ones are the two vertical screws through a metal plate on top of the fridge, which attach the front of the fridge to the worktop above it, but surely there are other fixings, e.g. at the base of the fridge? Or does it simply rely on its weight (and the fact that it’s pretty well wedged into the housing) to secure/stabilise itself?
Cheers

Can anyone help here? How much of the fridge will I need to dismantle in order to drag it forward? Is detaching the door a necessary first step?
Thanks

No need to dismantle the door or any part of the fridge.
I
Just unscrew the screws on the fixing plate at the top and check on the sides to make sure no more screws are screwed in to the wood cabinets.Remove the plinth on the bottom of the kitchen slide the fridge out about six inches to get at the thermostat cover.
Go carefully pulling out the fridge slowly an inch at a time so you do not break the plastic legs.
You can adjust the legs if the fridge is to tight to the work top.
Make sure you turn off the power before removing and refitting the fridge or working on the thermostat.
To remove the cover to the stat you need two flat screwdrivers in the slots on the cover to lever it up.

Bit discourteous of me not to reply more promptly – new thermostat successfully installed and fridge is up and running again. Thanks very much for your assistance.
