ParticipantDishwasher stopped working and after looking at forum topics/answers I cleaned Heat exchanger which had a lot of gunk at top left hand corner. Removed and cleaned pressure chamber and checked micro switches-all ok. All pipes checked for obstruction but ok. Red rod and blue P lever working ok.
Reset dishwasher and it then emptied water, filled heat exchanger then discharged water into dishwasher sump. There was then a humming noise from wash motor but nothing further happened until it completed the cycle and beeped.
Checked motor run capacitor which was faulty so renewed and tried again. Dishwasher went properly through its cycle and this time motor ran however pump is now making a hammer drill noise, and after a few minutes the pump impellers stopped turning. I stopped the dishwasher at this point. The impellers can be turned easily by hand.
I cannot see how to remove the pump to investigate further.
Any help would be gratefully appreciated.July 24, 2017 at 8:42 pm #449141Brendarran

sounds like you may have a foreign object in the wash pump.
I had a similar one a few months ago. Turned out to be a metal badge from a pan handle.

Thanks.
Not sure how to access or strip the wash pump although I can see it easily. Any help would be appreciated on my way forward.July 25, 2017 at 1:24 pm #449143anjo

Have turned the machine on its side and removed the wash pump. Didn’t find any foreign objects inside. Impeller moved freely. Put it back together and tried again. Still the same problem of the motor chattering then stopping turning after say 1 minute.
Not sure what to try next except maybe taking the pump off again, removing the impeller and trying again without the impeller, and if it is still doing the same I guess it is the pump motor that is the cause.July 26, 2017 at 1:48 pm #449144anjo

Have taken the pump out of m/ch and tested on bench. It still chugs away so am pretty certain the pump has had it.
