ParticipantHi I hope someone can offer some advice regarding a problem I’m having with my dishwasher. Sorry for rubbish descriptions – not technical! 😀
When I switch the machine on – door open but no program set, the machine starts filling with water. I’ve not left it to see how far it will go but it will happily fill up chamber under the filter.I’ve folllowed the trouble shooting advice in the manual and removed/cleaned bits that they recomend but to no avail.
Is this something I can fix myself or am I looking at getting someone out or even a new dishwasher? 🙁
Thanks for any advice

ParticipantI’d be inclined to think the door lock has either broken or ‘flipped’ into the closed position so the appliance thinks the door is closed and therefore starts working with the door itself open.
You will need to look into the lock on the top edge of the door to see i the latching arm has indeed flipped .

Thanks for the advice – I will have a look at this. I’m assuming when you say the door lock you are referring to ‘slot’ that the piece of metal goes into when you close the door?!
Have to say all of this seems to be working as normal but I will have a little jiggle with this. Thanks again 🙂

ParticipantYes , thats the cookie…..the slot has a door lock inside that should only allow the appliance to start once the door has closed and the ‘hook’ has engaged the lock.
If the door is open but switched off then nothing should happen.
If the door is open and switched on , the display/led’s should light up but nothing else.
During normal working , you would switch the appliance on , select your cycle and then close the door to start it……but what you can’t see is that the display/led’s are out when the door is closed and the machine is working normally. Thisis why you may not be able to see any lights but it starts working !!
P.S your appliance is actually a Siemens made dishwasher !
