sealed wash drums

my candy washer bearings are noisy easy i thought being an engineer i have access to bearings and seals cheaply 😀 😀 😀

So removed back and to my horrow the drum looks like its in two plastic pieces either glued or welded together 😥 😥 😥
its still working fine just the classic noisy bearings (no play yet)

are all hoover/candy washers like this now? as its replacement will have servicible drum bearings.

if anyone has a list of machines with the sealed drums please post as i will avoid them when i replace this

A list as such would be a waste of time as even manufacturers who have or at least had a reputation for better made appliances such as Bosch,Zanussi etc have also produced machines with sealed drums.

They can change specs and the first time we get to know about it is when we take the lid off.

The best advice is to seek out a local independent supplier who will be able to answer your questions correctly, asking the sales staff at the likes of Currys and the soon to be no more Comet is usually a waste of time as far as the type of drum the machine has in it.

As a general rule you do get what you pay for and sealed drums tend to be fitted to the lower priced machines.

Sadly, though, paying more doesn’t necessarily mean you will get a machine without a sealed drum – case in point, it seems that all of the washing machines in the new AEG Protex range, including the very high-end and expensive ones, have sealed drums now.

Maybe this is the manufacturers way of getting more sales volume, the complete opposite to keeping machines going for as long as possible by design or repair, really good for the environment.
