ParticipantHello. I’m new here 😀
In the past week I have taken delivery of a SEBO X4 based pretty much on the wisdom of this forum – in particular the comments of HWL whose insights as a professional carpet cleaner are much valued – Thanks! It is a pleasure to use and I am delighted with the results – the missus likes it too. It is everything I expected.
When I drew up a short list of vacuum cleaners the MIELE S7210 was a serious contender due to the excellent reviews but the SEBO clinched it. One factor that swayed me besides the weight ,auto-head adjustment, and 5 yr warranty was the service box. At £20 I consider it to be budget friendly. It includes 10 bags and a full filter set that maintains the machines Hospital grade filtration credentials. I really like that as it will encourage me to keep the unit well maintained by replacing the filters every 10 bags (or possibly 20).
But here is the thing – why is the machine not a Which? Best Buy? The Which report give it just 2/5 for allergen retention (5/5 for the Miele) 3/5 for cleaning carpet (Miele 5/5) and 2/5 for floorboards (Miele 5/5) That which report planted a seed of doubt in my head that took some effort to flick away. With regards to the allergy retention result, I know that independent tests by SEBO have proven the appliance (not just the filter) to meet the s-class spec. This leads me to think that either the unit was faulty or the test was messed up?

I don’t know if I love mine yet – I feel like I’m more at the good-friends stage, but there is a definite twinkle in the eye, so we will see.

I love mine because the wife now does the vacuuming, she always complained that our old Electrolux was cumbersome so left it to me 😆

We had a X4 and it didn’t pick up very well on our short pile carpet, we have a Miele S7 and that’s brilliant on our carpet. My step dads mum now has our X4 and it works better on her carpet that has a deeper pile.

The Miele S7 looks like a very nice machine and was a very tempting purchase consideration. Unfortunately it was just a little too large to meet my wife’s approval.
Very happy with the X4 so far 😀

Got to remember that which reports are generally still just someone’s opinion at the end of the day…

Just home with my new Sebo X4. Had a Dyson animal, so did the vacuum with that first. Now just had a go on the Sebo, what a different class. So much less noise and a much better pick up, carpet looking good, very pleased. 😀

I appreciate this is an old thread but on a recent trip to the USA (Aug2013) I found that Sebo X4’s and X5’s are only sold as a commercial cleaner. They are not available in retail outlets and average cost is around $700.
