    Hi

Buying a new house with has a gas cooker that the vendor is taking with them. So we are thinking of buying a gas range cooker we have seen second hand. With the details of the cooker on sale there are notes about lpg jets?? Are there gas cookers that run on different kinds/sources of gas? what should we be looking for? the cooker we have seen is a Diplomat ADP5701 – can this be set up on a standard gas supply? The person selling the cooker says it was just on mains gas before does this sound right?

    Re: Second hand gas cooker

In the UK mainland there is natural (mains or piped) gas and LPG wich is the bottled type used in caravans, boats, rural areas where no mains gas is supplied.

Many cookers can be converted to LPG as on the whole they are manufactured to work with natural gas.

If it was being used on mains gas then it will be fine as long as you are as well.

Please remember though, this must be installed by a Corgi registered installer, who of course will be able to advise you further.

Another point to mention which was a new part of the gas regulations recently introduced, all second hand gas cookers when installed, the registered installer must be able to access a copy of the installation instructions that came with it when it was new, they will normally be part of the user manual. If the seller hasn’t got a copy, you will need to contact MFI as they should still be able to supply them.

    Hope that helps.

    Dave.
