    Hi,

Does anyone have any tips for securing machines in the back of your van? I’ve racked out mine and tried to put extra bits in to hold machines securely in place.

Today, had to do an emergency stop as some old dear pulled out in front of me @ 60mph – CRACK! Machine hits bulkhead at speed, various bits of lid etc. come flying at me and sump water all over back of van. Luckily it was a scrap machine anyway but obviously if it had been customer’s, or a recon, would have been in trouble.

Still, at least my brakes work :rolls:

i use ratchet tie downs from connections
part number 5045174376242 at only £1.38 each (prices do vary)
makes you happy to brake hard 😯 or swerve 😯 knowing the machine is going nowhere 😀

I have a piece of 4″ X 2″ wood bolted to the bulkhead covered in carpet going right across the van from side door to side door. 2 heavy duty screweyes at either end and one in the middle fitted underneath the wood. This keeps them from fouling the sides of the machines. Ratchet straps are then hooked through the eyes and cranked up.
I also have some screweyes fitted lower down (about 12″off the floor) for tying down microwaves and single ovens. Never had a machine break free.

    Steve.

How about a makeshift well? – Bit ‘O’ work but if you are imaginative enough – a trough of somekind would do it

I’ve driven with machines in the back for a long time – ruined the bodywork of many a van – I don’t do it anymore but if you do it all the time it might be worth making some sort of ‘base’ 60 x 60 / 24 x 24 that the mahine will marry into?

    Just a suggestion
