ParticipantHello all
I’m hoping that someone may help to diagnose this problem.
This fridge was made about 2009 and has worked well until now.
Today I noticed the temperature control indicator was slowly flashing on and off with a buzzing noise each time the indicator light dimmed. This noise was coming from the compressor unit. The comp unit was hot at this point so I switched off and let it cool for a few hours. The fault continued when switched on again, but with much longer time between buzzes. The compressor does not seem to run.
My first thought was that the comp unit is dead, but I don’t know whether it could just be a start relay or capacitor problem.
If the comp is gone then I guess it is time for a new fridge.
The comp unit is a Danfoss TLY4KK.2
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.October 10, 2016 at 11:22 pm #441699electrofix

sound like it may be a control board problem

Hi Dave and thanks for the reply.
Sorry not to acknowledge sooner but this fault occurred the day before I was away for a while. Fortunately the fridge was all but empty at that point.
I have tried to run the fridge again twice since getting back, and it starts and runs normally until the set temperature is reached , at which point the fault recurrs. I’m hoping this rules out the compressor as the issue. Does this lend weight to your initial thought of a control board fault?
Thanks again.

its hard to say but yes sort of. it sounds loke a board power supply problem. ie it has not got enough power to supply all the components and the board crashes, then recovers. hence the flashing
some boards can be repaired and look up QER and see if they can check your board
