ParticipantHi all
I have a Serena oven (not sure which one!), anyway the element heats up when you have it on the grill setting, but will not heat up when you have it on the fan oven setting. When on the fan oven setting, the fan works and the internal light is on. Find it odd that the same element will heat when on grill setting, but not on oven setting.
Any ideas on what may be causing this (need to work out if it is worth getting someone in, or simply replacing oven!)
Thanks in anticipation for your help
Gary

A fan oven will normally have an element behind the back panel, surrounding the fan. They live short violent lives…..
Model number required for specific information please.
Power off if investigating.

Hi Penguin45
Many thanks for that, I will investigate a model number tonight. Is the element in question actually hidden from normal view (if so then what is the big element at the top of the oven for).
Forgive my ignorance, and can I just say what a great site this is (spent hours trawlling the net before I stumbled across it, no need to look any further!)

Hi Gary,
The element at the top is the grill element, which will double as an upper heating element in a multi-function oven but one of those would also have a lower element in the base as well. The fan element is what gives you a fan oven, behind a plate at the rear of the oven cavity is a fan surrounded by a round (in most cases) element. The fan blows and drives air over the element giving you a forced air oven in effect.
Most of the fan elements are reasonably priced for the most part and generally straightforward to change. If you’re not sure though don’t do it and make sure that the power is off totally before attempting a repair.

kwatt and penguin45
Thanks again for your expert help. I had the oven out and found what I guess is a model number, so here are the facts:
Sarena oven
Mod: OVN600S
Serial (if this helps?) 5O0273L00051
Type: FIR/FEVtook off the back plate (after turning off all power in house as am super paranoid) and you are indeed correct, there is another element surrounding the fan. I guess this is the one that is broken.
Just had a look in the shop and don’t appear to have one for a Serane oven. Is Serena a badge name only and do you know what part I would need to order from this site?
thanks again
Gary

It’s an obscure make Gary – the serial number looks like a Fagor one, for which I have no tech info I’m afraid. However, we know a man who does, so bear with us…… 😀

KeymasterI think Sarena is one of the PABL or Waterline brands, it’s certainly an AIS covered box service wise as we fix them. Of course there’s no service info (as usual) and every request for part info is a phonecall/email/fax. 😕
Being branded it could be any number of machines, common one is Meneghetti made from memory.

standard turbo element fits this appliance ok if screw holes are made larger.

Hi all,
This code is for a SK313X manufactured by Terim.
The SK313X2 is from Meneghetti.
AIS handle both.
