    leave alone

one of the directors is spike patching a name to avoid.

    search spike patching on here

they will get you to do work then start advertising in your area and pass your work to you but take a cut

if you want to insist its a pay up front job and load the cost to cover problems

done some work with them last year

they advertise on google same day next day repairs £59.00 (spend most of your time telling customers you cant call that day )

they don’t mention that repair will cost £79 plus vat that’s £94 you will be charging a local customer, then parts on top of that

you can make some margin on parts, but they will eventually try and supply the parts where you wont make anything

if you don’t agree to this, they will find someone else in your area and stop using you

sad fact that these companies are dominating google. especially if customers use a mobile which most people do now

do you really want to be charging local customers £94 plus parts, or £94 to remove a sock etc

    its not worth the hassle

they are using your expertise to find the part that is neede so you can make no profit on it

answer to that is increase charges. dont worry if you lose out to others in the long term you name and reputation are worth more

these people are parasites just milking customers

    Hi,
I have done some work for them slightly out of my area, I do not understand why people would pay £94,80 plus parts for a repair.
I do question whether i should do it or not but if i dont someone else will.
I try to encourage the customers to contact me direct for future repairs.

and how long did it take to get paid ?

I add £20 to my charges if the call has to be invoiced and not paid on the day

mmm and if the customer refuses to pay where does that leave you ?

or if they get fed up and buy a new machine

not sure I like that deal. as with the high charges customers are more likely to jump ship

once you work for them for a few weeks

they will insist you use a card machine they supply – so you won’t get paid directly from the customer unless it cash

they also will insist you advise what parts are required and they will order them, so you won’t get a parts mark up

if you don’t do this they will stop sending you jobs

so it starts off all Rosey

they then introduce unrealistic KPIs to monitor you made up by spike – but the 2 listed above are the main ones they will introduce

if you come across integrated appliances that you don’t have parts for you will have all the joy of removing and reinstalling at a minimum you will have a double journey for roughly £45

we tried them as work was slow during the pandemic ??? – but would strongly advise anyone not to use them

they are setting up various websites with local landline phone numbers ie http://www.glasgowrepairs.co.uk pretending its a local company

yes theres a few using this practice -surely there’s a case to be had in regards to false advertising, but I’m guessing they have this covered somehow

thankfully a lot of customers are savvy and will search for a local company

but sadly a lot will just google and hit the 1st,2nd.or 3rd listing that says local and family run, same day

unfortunately and especially on mobiles, most of the listings are dominated by these companies

if you want to beat them to the top I would suggest signing up for google local services guaranteed
its a bit of a hassle took us months and its not cheap roughly about £5.00 per lead
but it will list your company on the top of Google above all these call centers
its not like PPC pay per click where you would pay if someone clicked on your add – you only pay when someone calls you

one thing these pretender call centers cant do is claim a free Google map listing – so make sure you have one – this can have a huge effect as maps come up high on google

you can also spend time or money or both on getting your website to rank higher on google

rank higher on google – by getting high DA backlinks plenty of people on people per hour etc that can do this
don’t just get any old backlink get the highest DA you can afford – takes about 3- months for these DA links to work but you will start to see your website climbing.

do some research about keyword SEO etc lots of stuff on youtube

if we all did this I’m sure we could take a decent chunk of profit from these companies – so go take your local customers back

the fastest way to do this is via google local service ( google guaranteed ) we have had 27 leads from google local services in the past 2 weeks
that’s 27 jobs that didn’t go to these pretender local family run call centers

its not for everyone but google local services is #1 smart and effective weapon against these pretender call centers

im sure collectively we could have a massive effect on these companies

service site is gone with the wind – surprise surprise,
seemingly owing engineers thousands so I’m guessing they will probably owe more to various vendors

they wanted us to take a card machine from them, basically, all the money would then go back to them, then they would pay you what you are due — hmmmm
we declined to use this method and advised we would continue using our own card machine
funny enough work dropped off from that point

im sure a lot of engineers have been caught out by using their card machines now

i heard rumors that Spike and his brother have been calling around engineers as they are going to start another service site 2 ?
presumably, they won’t be calling the engineers they owe money too

hopefully, the engineers affected haven’t lost too much

who would have guessed this was going to happen

The Service Site website is still up, with an unusually worded statement about the company’s failure. The company is still active on Companies House, but the latest accounts show they have rapidly fallen into debt over the last 2 years.
