ParticipantHello chaps, I’ve been asked to carry out a service on a Bosch Classixx washing machine and dishwasher.
Problem is in thirteen years I have not been asked to ‘service’ anything it has been purely repairs.
So I am just looking for pointers as to what anybody else would do in a service, obviously on the washer check carbons, clear filter, clean pressure system but what else?
And the dishwasher?
What sort of charge should I make?
Sorry to sound a bit green, but this is a first and I don’t want to turn his much needed custom away.
Thanks

Fixing something that ain’t broke can often blow back in your face should they fail a short while after you have ‘serviced them’. So it is indeed essential to check things like motor brushes, heater insulation, clogged hoses etc to ensure you won’t get a recall any time soon.
Apart from that just a clean of the dispenser cavity, adjust the levelling feet, a quick electric safety test and then fire them up and finally a spit polish and job done. Both m/c’s 1.5 hours = just £75. 🙂

Cheers Martin, like I say an annual service does seem to be a thing of the past. I have had customers say that their old repairman would service their machines every year, and I have wondered what exactly they have done. Have they changed perfectly good parts? Generally if I am doing a repair I will give the machine a once over and if anything looks suspect, I’ll let the customer know and advise remedial action.
Thanks again.

Its mainly the older folk who want a ‘service’, brought up on the old wringer machines that did benefit from a dob of grease or a spot of 3 in 1 oil on the wringer mechanism.
When someone rings me and asks for a service my first question is always “what is wrong with the machine?”
In 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of cases there is a known fault but they seem to think that asking for a simple ‘service’ is going to be a magic panacea. :rolls:

I have only one customer (old lady) who has an yearly service on her washer, as Jim say’s when customer asks for a service quite often there’s a fault on the m/c.

Thanks for the advice chaps, it’s food for thought, I will bear that in mind when I speak to my customer before I offer any prices etc.
Cheers
