Hello all you clean clothes fans, I am another.

I have the above washing machine from 1998. It failed to clear the water from the drum during an ordinary wash cycle.
Upon investigation I noticed that the water exhaust hose was split slightly but this did not cause water to spill onto the floor so far as I could tell.
    I replaced the hose.
    Same problem
Water remains in the drum following the spin cycle.

I did remove and clean the filter at the base RHS of the WM, I think I replaced it the right way, is it possible to put these back in so that they block any water flow to the pump?

I have had the hose on the floor during the spin cycle so it is lying on the floor, but only a small amount of water comes out, when the cycle has stopped.

The selector dial cycles to its normal finish point at the end of the cycle.

I took the rear panel off.

The water pump plastic casing containing the wire coils that are charged from the mains is warm to the touch when the WM is at rest, about the same temp as the main motor casing.

So my guess is that power is getting to the pump coils.

So am I right in thinking the pump does not work?
Are these repairable or do you have to buy a new one?

In which case I have got an internet price for the pump of £30, but is it worth replacing or would a new WM be a better idea.

It sounds like a blockage to me, if the pump had failed, water would still run out quite quickly if the hose was dropped to floor level. Check the internal hoses with the power off of course :zap:

The pump, should it prove faulty is here should you need one, and a tad more reasonably priced 😉

Hmm, I squeezed all the pipes and removed the filter at the front, a lot of scale was there, this is a hard water area. Could not find any blockages.
I took the waste pipe off and ran the WM on spinto see if the pump impellor span round which it did. Reconnected the waste pipe.

I then tried the WM again on rinse and spin. the pump was making a horrible clatter and it was pumping water out, up 3 feet to the sink. A steady flow better than a dribble but not a gush.

So I tried it a couple more times and no water was pumped out at all on these ocassions.
So it sounds like a pump?

What actually breaks in these? I took it apart and the plastic pump seems ok, bearings seem ok. Is it the coils that burn out?

They just wear generally mechanically, hence the awful racket it makes, that’s the norm with these types of pump 😉
