My washing machine Servis Gem 800, sometimes fails to go into final spin, the drum tries to turn but wont get up to any speed. I have to remove some of the load , in some cases leaving only one towel in the drum before it will spin. Is there a load sensor in this machine or is there something else that could be at fault.?

    Jimfry,

Not sure what a Gem 800 is to be honest 😕 the Model number is what we really need (usually begins M????) 🙂

However, it could be the out of balance sensing part of the circuit playing up. The model number is the first thing we need though

    Hi
The Gem 800 is quite an old machine, as far as I know has know out of balance circuitry, just an AR2 speed control module.

Most common fault is speed control module and start capacitor for inductive motor (app 16uF)

Both parts quite inexpensive and Im sure some of the senior engineers on here could oblige you.

In any case please make sure you are safe and pull the plug :zap:
    before you undertake any repairs.

    Greg 🙂

Thanks for all your help , I will source the parts identified and see if it solves the problem

    Hi
To the best of my knowledge the gem 800 has no speed control module ( Rear bottom left 2 screws holding module and casing if has one).
More likely a timer or motor fault, and on an appliance of this age (app 7yrs) would be silly money IMO.

    regards

    Greg
