    Hi,

My problem is that,in my 18 month old Servis M0330S frost-free fridge freezer, the fridge section doesnt get cold at all and I suspect the freezer isnt getting cold enough.

The light comes on in the fridge section and there seems to be a motor hum from the back of the unit. The unit also makes funny bubbling noises from time to time (dont know if thats relevant). I took out the panel inside the freezer section to have a look and there was ice around the coils but there was none near enough to the fan above it to prevent the fan from operating.

The compressor at the back (which I take is the black dome object) feels quite warm but the coils above it are barely above room temperature.

I’ve got the unit in my kitchen so its not in a cold location. Are there any known problems with this model and what can I do (preferably DIY) to fix it.

    Many Thanks,

    Alan

    evening,

Was the ice you saw on the evaporator solid and completely across the opening from side to side and front to back?

If the ice build up was very low and not blocking the “flow” up and downwards of air…I think you have a system fault.

By that I mean either a weak compressor or a shortage of gas (possibly due to a leak). If your system is R600a refrigerant its also possible you have lost gas to the oil within the compressor….in whichever case you can not effect a DIY repair.

So the crucial points are…What Gas, how bad is the ice build up…over to you.

    Hi,

    Thanks for your reply, Kevin.

The ice was solid from side to side and back to front but only around the coiling in the freezer section. There is some sort of vent to the left of the fan (both are above the cooling coils) which appears to go to the fridge section but this does not seem blocked.

The label in the fridge section tells me its R600a refrigerant.

I’ve actually defrosted the whole unit overnight and I’m going to turn it back on later to see if air will start to circulate and give me any more clues…

    Re: Servis M0330S not cooling

if you look carefully at the evaporator, situated just along the bottom edge is the defrost heater, this is all there is to keep the drain hole clear whilst defrosting.
Its not very good at doing so, once the water can’t escapr the ice builds up to stop the air flow.

There should be two oblong vents in the rear wall and in bad ice build these can freeze up for an inch or so.
