    the machine is working through the cycle but with no water. I thought it might be the pressure switch, however it is not. Does anyone have any suggestions?

    as an aside the door opens during the cycle but it has done this for years so I am not sure it is related.

    Water level switch stuck on full can cause this. If the machine has been running through the programme without water, the heater will almost certainly be burnt out.
