ParticipantI wonder if anyone here can assist me?
I have this washing machine, I had it plugged in to the electrical socket ment for freezers/fridges.. in my utility room.. these sockets rarely trip, but wasnt using it for that reason, it was just because I needed an extra socket.
Anyway.. I digress. in the 3 yrs of having this machine I never had any problems at all.. until last weekend. put a wash on.. it done it.. when I came back I relaised id not put a softener in. The machine light was off.. I checked the trips.. and the fridge/freezer trip was down.. so reset it. Came back to machine, turned it to 6 to put softener in.. turned it on.. and nothing.
The light is on and the door locks when a program is selected, but no program works, none of it, no hot or cold fill, no spin, no empty.. just appears dead.
Obviosly something was at fault with the machine or my fridge freezer in the kitchen as it caused the socket to trip.. either way the washer wont work now. I have listened to see is the program selecter makes the appropriate noise as they do when a machine is on. There is no sound from it, no tick ticking.
So my question is.. is the program component naffed, or something else ? like the module.. I’d like some idea of what it could be before I commit to calling out an engineer, so I will have a rough guide to what it will cost me.. how long he will take to replace it ect.. its covered by 5 yrs parts.. but I know the longer it takes them to fix the more you get charged. How will he go about determining the fault?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
TIA

Almost certainly the PCB has failed. Door lock is switched by the timer, everything else is done by the PCB.

It may have blown the fuse in the plug when it tripped. That said, if the machine is the cause of the circuit breaker tripping and you change the fuse and it works, then there could still be an underlying electrical fault that needs to be found and repaired.
If you have a parts warranty, then the engineer will be able to find an electrical short quickly with the correct test equipment.Get an engineer to check this machine, your safety is paramount.

Penguin45 …pcb? printed circuit board? you say that does everything else on the machine so I’m guessing its a major component and would have been costly had it gone out of warrenty to replace then.. do these go often? I’d hate to have to have it replaced and it go again once it was out of warrenty.
Aqualectric – I did say the light was on, on the machine once I had reset the fridge/freezers dedicated trip in the fusebox/trip switches box.. so unlikely to be a dud fuse in the plug, else no lights would have came on on the washer once I had reset the trip switch.
It could have been the machine OR my fridge freezer that caused that socket relay to trip.. I can narrow it down to those 2 appliances as there is 1 dedicated fridge/freezer socket in the kitchen and 1 also in the utility room.. and only those 2 appliances are plugged in to these sockets.
It may have been the fridge freezer that caused it to trip as it is quite old and does make some noise these days.. humm so much for ariston going on and on.. mind you it is over 10 yrs old so not done too bad as its still working now so cant be the root of the socket trip.
