ParticipantHi, Im a service engineer but in a different trade to that of white goods, but feel I would be able to tackle my problem machine.. My washer is a Servis M3810s, problem points to bearings going/gone.. Its very noisey on spin, and rumbles when turned by hand.. Question is, is there a bearing kit for this machine or is just not done on this model.. Ive searched but seems bearing kits are available for all other models but this one I have.. Is the kit generic to other models, if so, which> Many thanks..

Hi Darren
Bearing kit here in the shop which says it’s good for all Servis machines 1000 spin and above.
HTH 🙂

Just need a bit more advice before I start unbolting everything.. Am I right in thinking I can replace the bearings on this without having to remove the whole drum?
.

Do I simply need to remove the pulley wheel and unbolt the spider thing off the back of the drum to get at the bearings.. Anyother helpful advice greatly appreciated.. Thanks.

Nope, that whole backplate has to come off and the drum out.

Thank for quick response 🙂
So that’ll be the inner drum coming out with the back plate yea? Can I rightly presume the outer drum will stay in place on its mountings? ooh, and whats the deal with the centre hex bolt holding the pulley wheel on (i presume) I just been trying to get it to turn, and it wont.. Is it welded in there or is there some secret to it becoming free? lol
Appreciate your help..June 12, 2011 at 1:59 pm #352816AylesDar

Well, had another go at this little project today, finally got the pulley off and have removed the back plate with inner drum attached.. Have undone 8 bolts around drum which attach it to the spider, but now the drum will not come off, is it meant to just fall off once the bolts are undone? I can hardly get anything to wedge into where the bolts fed, so prising it off is near impossible, it seems loose on the spider mounts but feels either like I need 8 pairs of hands to be prising and wedging at the 4 different mounting points, or theres something else still holding it attached… Grrrrr, any ideas??? Please help.. I wont be beaten, lol ..

Hi
You do not need to remove the drum spider from the drum to change the bearings, once you have back plate off with the drum and pulley is off just tap the spider out of the back plate.Taking care not to damage the shaft, then you can get at the bearings.
