ParticipantMy Servis M4803 has stopped working and I need some help please.
I think that it must be the timer unit but I will let someone more qualified than me make that decision.
About a month ago the dishwasher started getting stuck halfway through the cycle. It would remain at this point until the dial was manually moved on. Once the dial had been moved this would cure the problem and the cycle would finish normally.
This happened more and more often until the other day when moving the dial on made no difference to the wash. It does take on water still although this only sits in the bottom. It does release the detergent and the element does heat but the arms do not move and it doesn’t wash.
Does this sound like the timer unit? I am a dishwasher novice. I took the front panel off and located the timer. If it is this how do I remove it? There were no obvious screws and it seems silly to just pull. Is the spare expensive? If I can remove the timer from the panel then the rest appears to be easy since wires are simply pulled off and then replaced on the new unit.
Thanks for any help you can give.

David,
Not the timer at all I suspect, more likely the heating element. Does it get stuck at 2 points during the complete wash cycle?…Does it heat up the water at all I wonder??

A brief history
My dishwasher kepy on getting stuck at the same point in the wash. If I moved the dial on manually to the next click the wash would finish normally and in its own. This happened 20 or so times until it got stuck and even when I moved it on it didn’t finish the wash.
In response to my last post I was advised to check if the element was at fault. I have now made the following checks and have extra information.
If I move the dial manually it does fill with water at the base of the washer. The element does heat the water to a very hot temp. The water empties when it reaches the correct point in the wash cycle.
The dial will not move itself at all. If left alone the washer will take in water and heat in continually until I intervene.
Since the timer is located at the back of the programme dial is this at fault? Even if I turn the dial through the whole wash cycle though it doesn’t wash in the normal way. It doesn’t deviate from the behaviour described above.
I’d be very grateful for any help or tips anyone can share. I will happily try any suggested experiements.
Many Thanks

I am sorry to ask but I am not sure what was meant when the following was written
“Moved to the best home… the original thread.

I am sure it means something simple but I’d appreciate knowing for sure.
Many Thanks

KeymasterYou’d started a new thread for the same problem David, it happens all the time but we try to keep all the relevant posts to one thread wherever possible so it’s easier to follow the story in full. This is vitally important when one of the guys is trying to answer a problem as they can read the whole lot and see what has or has not been tried.
