Servis M491 Wash Cycle incomplete

Setting the dishwasher to a wash cycle we get all the usual operations.
Drain Down, Fill up, Dispenser Door Opens, Water Heats up and the Timer knob turns through the cycle. The problem is that the wash pump does not fire up. Am I right to think that the pump is failing rather than the Timer being faulty. When checking each component I noticed a mains hum from the pump but was wondering if this was because the timer is not switching the pump on or it has but won’t start because maybe the windings have gone down. I noticed this wash pump was a capacitor start.
Any pointers we be greatfully received.

Check the capacitor, also might be something in the pump

Just got back from that job.
Although the capacitor was fine the wire leading from it to the wash motor had been arcing on the base plate and had corroded the wire.
The machine must have had a flood at some point as the base plate was rusty and the insulation must have broke down. I remade the wire connection and it ran up just fine.
Alls well that ends well.
