ParticipantFINALLY got my washing machine!!!!! Washing my double duvet now, gotta say although it all fits in the basket there is absolutely no room for circulation so I’d imagine wash performance will suffer but hey, I’m stuck with it now so might as well use it til it dies!

Na, that’s the thing of it Dusty with all these machines, they just ain’t designed to take huge loads like that. When they say, “Will was a duvet cover” it could well be a 1.5 TOG summer thing that there’s nothing of, putting the usual UK 11.5-13 TOG affair in there is a whole other ball game in space and weight.
I saw the press advertising for the new Hoover Vision 9kg load the other day and just though, “yeah, right… there’s trouble waiting to happen”. 😉

KeymasterYeah, it’s just silly now.
Even most of the 6kg ones wont’ wash single items due to OOB controls, thankfully I don’t see many with larger capacities but, almost every one I have, people have complained about poor spin results with small loads or that they just can’t wash small loads.
I guess some people are prepared to live with the compromise while others are not.
The problem for people like us doing the aftersales service is that it’s reported as a fault when it’s not, so we get the grief when the machines don’t do what people think they should.

ParticipantWhile I’m in the mood for a moan, this machine doesn’t have a heating element just takes hot water from the heating system or mixes hot and cold! Personally I think it was quite badly advertised! I don’t suppose a heating element is a bad thing, could cut costs (maybe?) but the fact that wasn’t advertised along with spin speeds cycle duration etc etc… makes for an unhappy customer! I might grow to like it I HOPE!!

Large capacity machines are just a damn con. Again, the way they wash is with the agitation, a big duvet isnt going to be cleaned by the agitation. This is why we always take ours to the laundrette or the drycleaners. But even a standard 6kg machine should be capable of fair-size loads of clothes, fair enough if you’re trying to wash a small blanket or thin summer tog duvet.
As for Servis, i wouldn’t give them a second thought -
