servis m70656x cant find the thermostat help please

i have a servis m70656x and i cant find where abouts the thermostat is. i took the top cover off at the front top, and there is just a pcb with a pot variable resistor (electronic) to adjust the setting. is it possible modern fridge freezers are electronically controlled and no longer have original thermostat fitted with a capillary?
any feedback would be much appreciated. the fridge freezer is only 18 month old.

hi and thanks for your reply. it just stoped working but power light is still illuminated. i have done a parts search on the web and a thermostat came up with my model number search. if you leave it off for a while, the compressor cuts in, but after 5 minutes running, it goes off again.
