We have a Servis M9614W washer dryer, purchased in March 2008. After 6 months it started to play up in that it goes through the wash cycle but doesn’t pump out the water.

Naturally on trying to get support we found that Servis had gone bust and were referred back to the supplier. They denied all responsibility and kept telling us to call Servis.

Whilst this was going on we drained the machine, cleaned the filter and left it switched off. Just as I was getting ready to call the supplier and tell them I was going to court, we tried the machine and it worked.

Kept working for a couple of months and then went again, drained, cleaned filter and turned off mains and hey presto works.

3 years later the problem has returned and doesn’t want to respond to the usual cures. The fault is characterised by the water pump not clearing any left over water at the start of the cycle, this is always the sign that it is going to work. We have no fault lights on the machine and it goes through all the appropriate steps except that at the end the machine is full of soapy water.

Anyone any ideas or is it scrap?

Sounds like youve finally knackered the pump…

on a side note, good luck if you had gone down that route. no manufacturer/retailer will warranty a machine if the fault is down to “pilot error” i.e you putting something into the machine, be it inadvertantly or intentionally, that is not intended to be in there. pumps will get blocked be it after 6 months, 2 months or 3 years. thats why you have a filter to access the pump and clear obstructions. just like when you buy a car, you can get a puncture in less than a mile down the road, thats bad luck, its not cos you have a faulty car!

If you put it on to a seperate spin and it will won’t drain then as Ghand says its the pump.
If it has a small filter and not one with a long filter tray with holes in then it has an aqua ball in the hose from the tub to the pump that is getting stuck and not reseating itself ,I have known people remove them completely and the machine work perfectly okay .
Power off before you do anything at all though
