KeymasterHello everybody,
we own a Servis Quartz 1100 and we can’t find anything that our spare parts supplier accepts as a serial number. He keeps asking for a number that starts with M or with 200. We are absolutely sure that there is no label with a number like this on the machine. Any idea?
The real prob isn’t the number of course, but the drum. I managed to find the bearings (6204 and 6305) and the sealing (25x62x10mm), but the bracket of the drum is broken! So now we are looking for a spare drum for our machine. Does anybody have an idea where and which?
Thanks, AndreasOctober 4, 2004 at 5:15 pm #117484Dave_Conway

The model number will be on the inside of the filter door, lower right hand side of the machine as you look from the front.
This is a Merloni made appliance and will be model M6111 or similar. Check the seal size though, I think you’ll find it’s 35x62x10.
If that’s the case, you can buy the drum spider (support) on it’s own, these are all the same across the range, roughly £25 from MFI who use the same appliance.
If you want the whole drum and spider assembly, the model is critical as the drum itself differs. If it’s the standard one that also MFI use, it’s roughly £65.

Thank you so much Dave,
we found the number behind the filter door. It’s an M6110.
So we found the drum with spider for about 105 quid, which is quite a lot of money. Although the machine seems to be worth investing it since the rest seems to be in a very good condition.
Problem is that Servis tells us that they don’t supply the spider alone. They always come with the drum fixed to them. The people at MFI are sales people and not fitters, so the only thing they tell us is that they don’t do Servis.
So, can you tell me which MFI-machine has the same spider fitted? That would be a big help. Otherwise I guess we’ll have to go for the whole drum.

KeymasterAndreas,
I would say that spending £105 on a drum for a Servis was a bit of a false economy. Assuming you’ve had a year or two out it and the bearings have failed, the model was introduced in 1998 from what I can gather and cost about £250, then in all honesty you’d be better advised to replacing the machine.
The new Servis stuff since the name was taken over by Antonio Merloni, without being rude, is not the best shall we say. 😉

Hi K.,
the machine is from 98 I think and the bearings just gave up. I can get them for trade price, so they are only a couple of pounds. Also I would use the completely sealed types (not Z but RS1) so they should work even longer than 6 years.
So it actually should save money…. And as my partner says: Repairing this thing IS FUN! 😀
So I guess we go for it.

Yeah, £105 is far too much.
If you want just the spider (remember you’ll have to make up the fixings and drill the old on off) I can get it for you from MFI at the price mentioned previously, it’s the same one.
To be fair MFI sales or spares staff may well not even know, nor should they have any cause to know they are the same appliance as Servis, the machines are all made in the same factory that’s all.
If you drop me an email, I’ll let you have further details should you require the spider.
Dave.

Oh and concerning Merloni…..
The Italians are not exactly known for building things for wet conditions. Just look how fast a Fiat rusts away 😆October 5, 2004 at 5:53 pm #117490Penguin45

Hello everybody,
I just wanted to thank Dave for his help in getting us the spider and tell everybody that the machine is working again 🙂
We changed the spider, the bearings and the seal… all together for about 40 quid. It was lots of fun and everything is working fine.
