KeymasterHello!
Can anyone help? My very old servis quartz 600 washing machine is giving an error code (3F or F3) towards the end of the cycle. At the point the machine stops, the drum has been drained but the washing is soaking wet. If I choose “Rinse & Fast Spin”, the rinse will work but the 3F error usually reoccurs. If I then choose a manual fast spin, this completes sucessfully.
The machine was second hand, so I don’t have a user’s manual.
I think the motor / brushes are ok (since the drum turns in both directions, and the fast spin works), and the element appears to be ok (checked with a multimeter).
Can anyone suggest what might be wrong, or what the 3F error means?
This will help me decide whether its worth getting it repaired, or if its time for a new machine. Thanks & Regards,
Marc

KeymasterYou’re testing the memory here to the limit, but if I remember rightly F3 is a motor/carbons error, if they’re okay then the power card could be goosed.

my memory still brings me back to the F4 error being maotor fault and the F3 error being the pressure switch, but as i’m getting old i may be mistaken, check the water bottle at the rear of the appliance ,they had a tendency to choke up and give the fault and stop the machine spinning as it still thought that it was full of water.

KeymasterYou may well be correct Bryan, TBH my memory of those machines is not the greatest and I never liked the damn things anyway! 😉

ModeratorHey why not check out the Known error codes section in the technical forum of this very site!.

ParticipantTo put your minds at rest, F3 means that the machine has not drained all of the water within a particular time scale.
So, either the machine is draining slowly, or as mentioned there may be a fault within the pressure system. Mark has mentioned that the machine is empty when the error code occurs, which would indicate that the fault definitely lies within the pressure system.

yep .. i would then direct you to the little white plastic container on the rear of the drum just above the motor an between the belt, take this out and clean it ,probably full of scale and scum(who mentioned..wp’s)..just remember to make sure the machine is unplugged ect… 🙄bryan

Hello again!
Thanks to everyone who replied – its appreciated. Bryan was spot on regarding the plastic water bottle, it was totally clogged up with scale!
The next problem is that in removing it, I’ve split the stubby length of hose connecting it to the drum (not surprising, the rubber has perished)
Any ideas where I can get a short length of replacement hose?
Will try the local plumb centre on the off chance this afternoon.
Cheers,
Marc
