KeymasterI have an old Servis Quartz – very much on death’s door – with an error code flashing F7. An engineer said over the phone that he wasn’t positive but maybe that meant it was beyond repair. Anybody know for sure? If so I will be in the market for a second-hand washer and wondering which brand is best? Many thanks.

Lisa,
My ancient records show that error Code F7 is simply a ‘Time Out’ error. But this could and almost certainly will mean a number of factors may cause this to come up. A component failure is the most likely, i.e. Heater, blocked pump etc. but nothing specific I’m afraid!
It will involve the need to get an engineer to look at it at least to access the overall condition and carry out the relevant checks. It’s old and could be costly though.

Did one of these last week
do not use, could flood floor
this one had split presure pipe and blocked pressure bubble
so might flood everywhere.
or listen for good pump out
check waiste blocked or change pump if no gurgle
If fills over 1/2 way up door hold cancel button and dont use!!!!!!July 23, 2004 at 10:44 pm #110224WhiteBoxMan

Basically what they are trying to say is…………………………..
Don’t be tight ! get rid of it, the Quartz is ancient, they went through more parts than your average Hotpoint, Door boots, brushes, power cards etc we didn’t even bother trying to change bearings on a machine with a service contract in the good old days. Just bunged in a complete backplate with inner drum & pulley.
Brings tears to my eyes just thinkin of it…tears of joy i don’t work for them any more !!

These machines had their problems but hey, its still on the road and that says a lot, get it checked it may only be something minor.

Hi,
On the first posted problem F7 was a tacho generated fault not a common problem need to check motor tacho and connections to power board bottom of machine(requires an engineer). (but has these machines are getting on a bit they do now give strange error codes with some times no reason).
Now to open the door with out power you need to slide a thin object (fish slice etc) between the door and cabinet in the area of the door hook middle right hand side of door. trying to push the hook to the left try pulling the door at the same time. it will need a bit of brute force. As far as old past it appliances i have hundreds and hundreds of quarz machines in my patch ranging from the early 1981 examples 600 range right up to the last big door Hitachi and saphire 1990/91. Even though some are now 20 years plus in age they are still going strong with many giving little problems.
