I have wondered why the elastic in all my pants keeps failing and I now think my Servis M6500W is overheating. Today I had a mixed load on a 40 degree wash but when I happened to go in the kitchen to make coffee I noticed the whole machine was getting hot, like it was on a boil wash. You can’t touch the glass on the Servis as there is a plastic window in front but I’m sure it was well over 40 degrees. I checked the sensor on the heater and it reads about 5k at room temp. There does not seem to be any other thermostat or TOC anywhere so I’m thinking module fault. It is not easy to trace the wiring on the double sided pcb to see what switches the heater so I’m wondering if circuit diagrams are available for these boards?
The fact you can feel heat through the plastic window is definite proof its overheating on a 40oC.
Are you hard water, could be a nice layer of scale and muck on the ntc.
Email EMW – they will know the regular and some of the obscure faults on Servis PCB’s. Or look at their website as it gives the most common faults listed under each module.

HTH,
Steve.
Last time I checked, EMW didn’t touch these boards but that was 5 years ago so things may have changed. I do live in a very hard water area so I guess it could be limescale.
