I know that there is a similar spin arm fault but think that there is a different cause. Basically, the lower spinner does not move at all. The top works fine with high pressure. The water heats fine and drains with no problems. I have taken off the lower arm and it is clear of any muck. I then put a cup over the hole and ran a cycle. The cup did not move so no water is coming through. I have then blown down the spin arm hole with a piece of hose and did not feel any blockage. The filters are clean but I my family are not the best at cleaning food off plates before dishwashing.

The washer is 2 months out of warranty but cannot afford the £65 callout fee minus parts for a fix I might be able do myself… with a bit of help from this forum.

What could be causing a problem?
    How could it be fixed?
Can someone recommend a cheaper engineer if one is needed?

    Cheers

    Hi Spon
I would imagine the water diverter on the heater unit and/or module is at fault.
You say 2 months out of guarantee, when did you buy it??
The worst it can be is March 2004, but BSH are usually pretty lenient, and may do a deal on the spares 😀 and you pay the labour.

You WILL need your purchase receipt to show to engineer. At best I would guess you may get 30{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} off the price of the part as things have tightened up considerably lately.

It was given to me by my landlord but according to Bosch the warranty ran out in August and they did not offer me any further help. Can I buy and fit water diverter or module myself and what sort of cost might I be looking at. Thanks so far..

Heater/diverter assembly is £70 odd, plus VAT and P+P. It is a complete nightmare to fit if you’ve never tried working on one of these before – I’m a pro and I struggle. Two courses of action: use the repairs@ link below to find an independent in your area. Hourly rate may well be lower, but I imagine they will charge for at least an hour and a half’s work at least. Discuss when making contact to avoid surprises. Secondly, the Bosch charge is a one off, so it looks a bit more attractive given the time element involved.

If you are going to do it yourself, we can’t walk you through the job blow by blow – check the Forum Rules as to what we can tell you. Patience and lots of diagrams is the secret.

    Good luck,
    Regards,
    Penguin45.

    Thanks guys.

Bosch support stated £65 callout for 30 mins and then £4 for every 6 minutes, with parts being added as well. So I might be looking at £100 plus parts. I am not sure how much the washer is worth but I may as well buy a new one.

Is the cost likely to be cheaper going somewhere other than Bosch?
