Due to the high voltage :zap: stored with-in the microwave, even when switched off, you should under no circumstances attemt any repair yourself.
It could be the thermistor or the pcb at fault, so I would suggest trying the repairs@ link for an engineer in your area.

I agree with SWERV, its not like an ordinary appliance. Do yourself a favour and follow engineer link below 🙂

Thanks for the advice SWERV & Gegsy, I took the inspection cover off & the back, recognised that there was some residuals and grounded it safely. Clogwheels

Hi
Microwaves should only be repaired by an engineer who has the correct test equipment to make sure microwave emitions are within all safety margins . Also the main capacitor in the microwave has enough power to kill even when switched off so be warned . Pro job only

As a matter of interest to the dicussion to this topic…does that also apply to the seemingly mundane task of replacing Internal micrware light bulbs?
We’ve managed to do this without killing ourselves ( so far ) – well, my wife did it in a fit of enthusiasm!
Any thoughts,..?

The rule of thumb by most maufacturers is that if the part (bulb, stirrer cover etc.) can be accessed without removing the casing then the customer can replace the part.
If the cover has to be removed then it is not a job for an untrained person.
Our policy follows that of the manufacturers.
Washman is totally correct and there has been at least one case of an engineer killed by a capacitor discharge that I know of, there’s likely many more I don’t know about. Basically they’re extremely dangerous and that’s why a lot of the guys don’t like working on them, something to do with a (IIRC) 20,000V charge left in the capacitor, that makes you very nervous.
