ParticipantHi all,
I have a Sharp qw-gt34f463i which throws an F5 error which is lack of water. When I detach the hose the pressure is fine. I took the water softener off to see if it was clogged but there’s nothing I can see. Nothing will go through it though.
Do I need a new softener unit and how would I prevent this happening again if so?
Thanks

KeymasterThat error is listed as:
F5 :: Inadequate water supply
Make sure the water input tap is totally open and that there is no water cut.
Close the water input tap, separate the water input hose from the tap and clean the filter at the connection end of the hose.
Restart your machine, contact the service if the error resumes. So for whatever reason, it’s not seeing the machine being filled so, water valve or the flow meter on the inlet tank are top suspects.

ParticipantThe water valve hasn’t worked, fingers crossed for the flow meter

ParticipantHi kwatt , any other ideas – it’s not getting past the new water valve. I’ve had the hose off the back and set it on a cycle but nothing comes thorugh. Could it be a logic board somewhere?

KeymasterThe obvious question is, is water getting to the valve?
Next obvious question, is the valve energised?

ParticipantThanks K, water is indeed getting to the valve just not past it. I’ll get a multimetre and test the valve but it has to be this. Do you know what could be the issue if there’s no voltage at the valve?

KeymasterThe valve is a simple solenoid, it’s open or it’s closed, working or not working, no in-between with them. So, if it gets power and opens that’s really all there is other than a potential blockage of some kind as it’s incredibly rare for a valve to only open partially.

ParticipantOkay, I can verify the wires to the valve are not producing anything. What could that be?

KeymasterI’d suspect that’s controlled by the main card in it but to suss that out you need the serial number, multiple versions of it used.

ParticipantDo I provide it here or somewhere else?

Participantkwatt More clarification, just to get your opinion. I have a multimeter on the connections to the valve, the reading fluctuates between -10v and 8V from the off. Does that suggest a current leak in the system somewhere and would you think it will be the main PCB still?
March 14, 2020 at 12:09 pm #466672kwatt
KeymasterAll the info for the valve is:
1.5 Water Inlet Valve
Voltage Frequency Total Power Flowrate Resistance
: 220/240 Volt : 50-60 Hz
: 6 W
: 2,5 lt/dk: 3750 ±٪10 Ω ( 20 Co )
Single inlet and single outlet standard single coil solenoid valve. It is assembled to the basement and connect to the airbreak by hose..
So, it needs mains power to operate.
That serial number doesn’t look quite right but it should be this board set used in it:

ParticipantI’m now just getting an F6 error, is this thing just knackered?
