quickwash
ParticipantHi all,
Just a quick note to say how impressed i was with the speed of delivery and by the postage price (fixed £2.95) as i ordered a few items at once from ukw. Which included 2 quite heavy spray bottles, a box of kettle descaler, 2 different items of Affresh etc. All roads led to the Affresh for the best ‘cleaner’ for washing machines and not just at ukw, so i thought i would use this, as the 1607 deserves it, to keep her as good as new 😀

Hi quickwash. Curious as to what washing detergent you use and if you use fabric conditioner? I have a feeling you may have looked in to it :D. Not so much the brand (but by all means say) but whether you use powder, bio, liquitabs etc? We use liquitabs for convenience but I am wondering about going back to good old powder.

Hi jaunty,
The ‘dry’ food i mentioned for ‘baby’ was Ariel powder, normal and colour version, but powder only!
I did use liquid for a while but my old machine began to do something unheard of before and started getting moulding 🙁 I therefore looked into this phenomenon and found out about the lack of bleach in ANY type of liquid!! Apparently it is impossible to add it to liquid detergent. So a disaster in the making if you want a gunk free machine 🙂
I stopped using softener at the same time as this is basically grease with a nice small :rolls:
I bought the affresh to keep my 1607 in even better shape, i may not have needed it in all honesty but makes me feel better and hopefully ‘baby’ too!! 😆

Forgot to say i chose ariel because they have ‘something’ in it that is meant to help prevent stains :hmm: Think i am right in saying they were the first company to include stain removers in their products 🙂
Also if you want convenience then there are the powder tablets, or whatever they are called, but you know what i mean. I am good with this technical stuff mind :rolls:
I havent used liquids in the machine for about 2 years but i do keep some in for hand washing as it is quicker to disolve in the sink 😉
Sorry to go on a bit but may as well answer the question properly 😉

Thanks for your feedback and a reminder about the articles on here – they are good

hi jaunty,
Do you know that at the time i read that article i never realised it was part of a forum, just think of all the ‘chatting’ i could have done 😉
And perhaps i would have realised that the drop-down door of the 1606 would be no good for my kitchen lay-out, instead of saving for 2 years then realising i would not have been able to open the flap enough to open the drum door 😳
Although it has worked in my favour as the 1607 has some better features and a massive 8kg drum (if you look at the picture of the 1607 the drum is the same size as the ‘hole’ in the outer casing) 😀
Anyhow i hope that article was of interest, it makes a very good case for reverting back to powder :lesson:
All the best

PS – Just imagine me like this :worthy: in front of the 1607 😆

The earlier, drop down ISE10 door was removable if required. 😉

hi iadom,
Yes i knew the door could be removed but after some pm’s with ken i decided to wait for the 1607 as there were no hole blanks available and the old servis was ‘limping’ on. I dont like to ‘dispose’ of something that is working, part of the reason i liked the ise concept so much

hi all,
Forgot to mention that i always try to dry out the powder drawer and compartment after each days washing as i think this is of great help in preventing that horrible black gunky stuff forming, (had that after using the liquids!) as i presume this is due alot to damp in the compartment.
The job of removing the powder drawer is easy on the ise10, if you just lift it slighty it comes out without that horrible crack that other washers seem to do :rolls:
I will do as ise10 customer review post at the weekend when i have used all the programmes 😉
