Hiya, first post, so please be gentle!

We have an Electrolux integrated built under electric double oven. It is an original appliance in our new build home (2006).

No problems with it prior and been using it for over 4 years.

Today, I had the top oven on and the bottom when it tripped my breaker switch and threw all the electrics out downstairs.

When we flipped the switch back on the top oven continued working fine but the bottom oven went kaput. No heat, nothing.

Now. I am just looking for a bit of advice and opinion. Do we replace the element (as this is what I suspect has gone – I may be wrong!) OR could this just be a quick fix and really we should bite the bullet and replace completely, given that it has seen 10 years.

    What do you think?

I am loathed to do a quick fix for it to fail at Xmas or something!

We make it a point of giving “gentle” advice here and in your case it’s no big deal replacing the element. Usually it’s just the circular fan element that blows. So power isolated and take a look. Normally the element literally blows it’s metal sheath so it’s obvious that that is what has failed.

Outside of physical indicators other faults will need a fair deal of electrical knowledge in order to diagnose where the fault lies. Hopefully that won’t be necessary. Have fun! 😀

Thanks for the advice Martin 🙂

I am obviously a complete novice with all off this!! I will have a look at the shealth and I had planned to call the service/parts place today. We still have the original paperwork.

I just had nightmares of it going on Christmas Eve as we are hosting this year!!

Ah yes! Memories of cooking Christmas dinner on the BBQ in the back garden whilst holding an umbrella against wind and rain. A teasing prospect and such fun, never to be forgotten.
