    Hi,

at this meeting you 3 are going to be called upon to do a presentation of the AP. I will be introducing you to the assembled audience and I require one of you to do a 20 minute presentation on the AP (you can have 30 mins max, including Q and A session).

Kwatt will offer any assistance you need if you want to go Powerpoint etc though you could stay nuetral and go verbal. You have free reign as far as content, you guys are the panel. Toss this around, decide what you want to do and who will present it and let US (admin@) know.

The agenda as is now will put you on 2nd after my opening speech, good or bad, we hope to kick off earlier than normal at 0930 as there is so much to go through.

So plenty of time to prepare, ask if you need help, we are there to assist.

I’m a little inexperienced in these matters; therefore I really don’t know how we can pad this out for 20 mins, unless we have a lively audience that can feed us some quality questions. However, I am aware other mebers of the AC are old hands at such things. As long as I’m pointed in the right direction, no problems.

I think we on the council need to get our heads together for a few minutes and see what we can structure.

Any Ideas how to make this one interesting?

No need to pad out the presentation, you can have 10 or 15 mins if thats all you require, I can easily fill in any time you don’t take

Personally, I think that you’re all more than capable to do this. If you want I can give you help with the IT and writing, no problems there. If you want help with the actual technicalities then just ask.

I’d go with the reasons that the AC was formed and it’s function in life, explaining that it is there as a last resort really. Just let me see what you come up with and I’ll jazz it up a bit. 😉

    Re: Sibson Sept 2005

I did post a reply last night just as the site went down so here we go again.

You may not be aware that I have already been working on a power point presentation to outline the roll of the advisory council and I did ask Chris over a week ago if he would be so kind as to deliver it at Sibson.

He was on holiday last week, chilling out in cornwall I believe. So I think it’s only fair that he either accepts or declines the offer first.

Although we are not posting in this forum on a daily basis it should not be assumed that things are not being done.

As it then leads to embarassing situations like this.

If you remember the council was set up with three members not four, so that there would never be a hung decision. Alex if you remember was asked initially but felt that, at that particular point in time he was not able to committ fully due to the pressure of his own buisness committments.

But he did kindly offer to help out if there was any matters arrising where we might need to disqualify any particular council member for any reason or anomaly that might occur (on the subs bench basically)

Alex was quite rightly given access to this forum so that he could be kept up to speed on the A.C.

That time has now arrived, as it is my intention to stand down at the next meeting at Sibson due to the fact that I have quite recently been appointed as a director of UKW ltd.

It was naturally my intention to ask you Alex if you would do me the favour of taking up the vacancy for now, until the next round of elections for the post when you could be voted on to the A.C. in your own right.

However, the fact remains that whilst this council welcomes the input and the support of the admin team it takes and makes it’s own decisions on who does what and when. And if people dont like it then they can always vote us off at election time but not before then.

Sorry if I appear to be on my high horse but the whole point behind the A.C. was that it is supposed to be independant and have it’s own authority.

Alex, this is no way any reflection on your, more than adequate and eloquent capabilities as a public speaker. It is more to do with who rules in the A.C.

For the record, I have no doubt that no offence was meant and that things are sometimes done with the best of intentions but as we all know. The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

p.s. This might be a good post to save for the day when I’m on the other side of the fence and pissed off with the A.C. myself

Sean, there’s no hard and fast rule that states that you cannot remain on the AC. I just felt, at the time, that it would be far better politically if Dave, Kevin and especially myself stayed well enough away from it.

In all honesty though you’ve done a hell of a lot to help drive this along so it’s only fair IMO that you get given a reasonable shake. I would therefore suggest that this is put to the subscribers to make up their mind on whether you should or should not be allowed to continue on the AC. After all, it’s a decision that is, quite rightly, placed outside our control and I will abide by it as I know you will.

I can see where you’re coming from, but I can’t see any great need to change for change’s sake, so let the members decide I say.

Oh and I have the draft, I’m working on some video for it as well. 😉

I posted on Friday evening that as long as I’m clued up on what it is all about I can blag for England. Post got lost though. I’ll take the eloquent speaker bit as a compliment. Most people say it is due to a big mouth.

I think my inclusion on this to date has been done very well. I have not felt coerced, nor left on the sidelines. May I respectfully suggest that if Sean feels there is a conflict of interest that he remains in the background of the AC forum. I feel that Sean has the knowledge on these things, and due to my inexperience I will be flying blind. However as I say if someone gives me the guff, I can put it out.

Don’t worry Alex, Sean’s done a power of work on it, I just need to rewrite it a bit, bullet it and funk it up a bit.

You’ll have a copy well in advance.

    Re: Sibson Sept 2005

    Hi chaps,
I am back from a week in Cornwall, somewhat refreshed and now with a computer that works at something above walking speed.

I was pleased at the compliment at being asked to deliver the address, but in all honesty I’m not fussed about who actually does it.

I note from earlier in the thread that Ken wishes to emphasise the AC being a back stop, in case all else fails. I feel that we should point out the other things that the AC could be doing as well in order to maintain a “positive spin” on things, as well a potted history of developments over the last six months to make the current situation clear. This is the lead off after all.

Copy me a rough when you’re ready, and we can all add/subtract/alter as usual.

    Cheers,
    Chris.

As I’m the new kid on the block, and the reserve team, I think it should stay as Chris doing the presentation. I’m not adversed to doing the job if needs be though.

As long as the bones of the presentation is set out, I can do the spiel, and once I know what I’m talking about, no problem.

    See what pads out.

    Re: Sibson Sept 2005

    Guys, this is important.

The point of the AC will become clearer as time goes on and I need not educate you on it IMO, you can see it for yourselves. We end up with the only regulated body in the industry, dwell on that for a bit and think what we can do with it.

I fully intend that you wil be able to deliver a blinding little piece that will ensure that others think about it too.
