ParticipantHi all 🙂
My whirlpool FRSS2VAF20/0 has given up the chase.
The freezer is spot on and ice cold, but the fridge just seems warm to me, can’t check the exact temp until I get a thermometer tomorrow, it certainly isn’t the 2c the front is set at.
I’ve been reading around and I’ve took off the top cover in the fridge, the finson the air diffuser are only slightly open. However I can feel any air blowing in from the fan when I remove the air diffuser.
Does anyone have any ideas what it could be?
thanks

The diffuser would be the favourite.

Thanks mate. Would I not feel the fan blowing the cold air from the freezer when the diffuser is removed though?

Correct me if I’m wrong as I’m a novice with fridges.
Am I correct in thinking that there’s a fan behind the back in the freezer that blows cold air into the fridge through a plastic pipe that connects to the air diffuser?
What I’m saying is I can’t actually feel any air getting blown through from the said fan when i unscrew the diffuser from the fridge wall

Yes, but if the fan was faulty the freezer wouldn’t be cooling either if memory serves as the same fan drives both.

Ah right, thanks for that mate guess I’ll try the evaporator.
I’ll try and get a thermometer today and actually see what the temperature is in the fridge

Hi mate, I’ve got a thermometer and the fridge is definately too warm, the front is set to 2c but it’s 10c according to thermometer. The freezer is set to -19c on the front and thermometer says its -20c in there.
I’ve took the backing off the freezer and it’s not frosted up, can hear the water dripping and hissing onto defrosting pipes, which shows that is working, but the fan isn’t spinning at all. Would that more than likely be the fan itself or the thermostat?

Diffuser or whatever is controlling it. 😉

Yeah I think I’ll try a diffuser when I get paid, for now though I’ve took out a few fins from the diffuser to see if helps till I get one

Thanks for your help mate, I took our the diffuser and the baffle was snapped so it couldn’t open the vents once it closed them, so bought a aluminium one off eBay for for £12 and now it’s fully functioning and holding at 3c nicely…… You’ve saved me a lot of money I haven’t got at the minute….. Thanks again bud 🙂
