ParticipantHi Folks,
I am trying to identify a heater for the above machine.
It is the same as a Bosch D/W, normal size. It has 4 settings: 1. Intensive, 2. Normal, 3. Economy, 4. Prerinse plus an On/Off switch. The heater is fitted into a plastic housing of which the front, where the terminals protrude seems to clip off.
I have never changed a heater like this are thing straight forward.
Thanks in anticipation.

Would you `Adam and Eve` it, I have another of these heaters go down today, this time open cct heater.
Is the heater assy the same – 096942? This is a Neff built in S4466N1GB/12.
I had a closer look at the fitting of this unit, seems it could be a bit of a pig; is it? Any advice most welcome.
Thanks again for your input.

The correct Heater Unit is Part No: 267775 (about £70).
Once the machine is in the middle of the kitchen floor, fully disconnected and plenty of space around you and it , then it’s an easy job
Panels off, door springs unhooked and locating pins out of hinge to remove door, unscrew top spray arm and the 2 clamps in tub as well as the salt container retaining ring. 4 screws hold the tub to the base, base off and away…The heater is there before you to unhook all the connectors, unscrew the 2 screws holding it in position underneath, ease the wiring loom connectors out of the way …and then reverse the process to reassemble.
(Tip : smear a little washing up liquid on the tub gaskets before lowering the tub back into position, so it slips in position first time) any further probs? just PM /email me for further info on these, easy peasy machines to repair 8)
Martin
P.S an 096942 only fits a SLIMLINE Dishwasher (SPS series)

careful at guessing at those heaters as some of them have turbidity sensors and motorised valves, others dont have any of these. Are you sure that model number has scrubbed off? They are usually on the stainless part of the top of the door and are pretty durable. Sometimes you just have to get in the right light to read them.

Thanks East,
Yes I am aware of the faint etched mod numbers. On this you can see where the label used to be down one side of the door. The surface of it feels a bit rubbery like rinse got it or contaminated with cooking oil.
Thanks again

Sorry Guys, but you are advicing on how the instantaneouse water heater be remove/replace the wrong way. The way you have described is the way Hotpoint teaches, as a former BSH engineer, the easiest way is to turn the appliance upside down. Please dont say it is the wront way but i have replaced these elements within 20min tops. Undo the 2-screws at the back and the 2- at the front. Remove the tesion spring cord away, then pull the base away. Well if all this is too much go for the easiest.

Hey Penguin, you were doing right all along ❗
I am still gonna do it the upright way, surely cleaning up the mess left has to take longer and the risk of water getting on the timer pcb is too much of a risk to take. + we can leave the hoses in situ (assuming they are long enough to get the thing out anyhow) which I dont think can be the case if upending the thing.

Remove door front, both side panels, take out two screws holding tub to base at back, lay machine on it’s back remove rest of screws as suggested by sene, pull off base to acess heater. Can be done without disconnecting hoses if it’s been installed correctly. no mess to clear up using this method. 20 to 30mins complete.

Mark,
You want I should make trouble? I know I was right, but hey, all you big strong boys wanting to throw tanks around? Up to you….Point to bear in mind here was “label”. Bosch haven’t been using labels for at least 8 years – engraving to the door inner top was the way. So – we can reasonably assume that Laurence with a U’s machine is an earlier model.

Reminds me of the old adage “How many servicemen does it take to change a lightbulb…..?” :rotl:
My god! It would also be like Fred Karno’s Circus to have one BSH dishwasher on the kitchen floor and each one to demonstrate their individual skills at changing the water heater? Several choosing to fight against the laws of gravity with the door straining on its wiring harness dangling in mid air, all the saline water spillage and rinse aid liquid everywhere! The artistic skills of refitting the base with all its component parts back onto the tub upside down?
First stopwatch stops after 30 minutes, job done…..a bl**dy miracle has been re-enacted before your very eyes.
Can you teach this old dog a new trick I wonder? :con:
