ParticipantWe have a Siemens Dishwasher no model number (that I can see).
It is about 10 years old and has a dial setting control
It was working fine until recently but now doesn’t drain
I can’t see any obvious blockages and it seems to go through all the program
Just wondering if this sounds terminal or might there be a simple soloution?

Is there a whirring sound when the dishwasher first starts (drain pump emptying) or a hum for first 30 secs?
Regards

Yes whirring and humming and clicking,
(these noises sound like the normal startup as far as I can remember)

If the pump is running there may be a blockage in the drain hose.

The hose doesn’t appear to be blocked, I pushed a curtain wire into it and it went the full length without meeting any resistance

Ok, to move this on, you will have to tell us the Model number in order to receive more precise advice.
Old Seimens/Bosch machines had a label on the edge of the cavity, just below the lid, new ones have it etched into the top edge of the door inner panel. We’ll need the “Enr” number.

You can get normal noise but sometimes the impeller has parted company from the shaft of the motor, a quick turn of this will confirm as you won’t get the “twanging” feeling as you rotate it.

The ENR number is
SE24201/GB/01
I’ve given the impeller (assuming thats the thing that looks like a rotor blade) a spin and didn’t get a twanging feeling

The white ‘impellor’ should rotate freely with a simple flick of the finger, however it is connected to a magnetic armature so you will feel the poles resistance as you turn it. But if it turns at all easily, then it should be fine. Most problems are associated with food deposit and broken crockery blocking its movement and the channels alongside need careful inspection before refitting the cover plate.
The drain pump should be heard the moment you turn it onto the start of any programme, if not? The pump is at fault. If you can hear it running? Then the drain hose or its attendant coupling (to the waste outlet) are clearly at fault!

The hose is clear I tested it by blowing through it and getting bubbles in the water at the bottom of the dishwasher. When I put the end below the level of the dishwasher floor water drains out. The waste outlet is also clear
So presumably the pump is not working properly?

Sounds like the coupling’s broken behind the impellor.
This what you want:

Is this simple to fit?
Is a special tool required to undo the Impellor and pump?
I can’t seem to find a screwdriver or alan key to fit

Yours is one of the nice twist and lock/unlock but still a devil to get at. I must agree with Martin on this one.
