    Hi,
I have a Siemens dishwasher which is not draining. leaving a pool of water in the bottom of the machine at the end of the cycle. My suspicion is that it is blocked as a guest loaded a pot with a load of spiral pasta in it and ran the machine.
I have removed a load of pasta from the fileters but it still wont drain.

So I have removed all the torz screws on top of the white plastic moulding but cant seem to remove the whitee plastic bit – its solid. Any advice on how to proceed to get at the pump and check it?

It is an integrated machine by the way….
Am wondering if I need to get under it to access the pump?
    Any advice appreciated.

You could reduce the size of your picture by about 75{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} for starters. 😉

You can actually see the pump impellor at about 8 o’clock in that picture.

If you can flick it round in quarter turns then it looks as though you have a blockage elswhere.

The undersink plumbing would be a good place to start.

Also as stated at the top of the forum, models numbers are needed in most cases.

Sorry – laziness not reducing picture size – good for seeing the detail though!

    😕

It flicks around fine in 1/4 turns so must be blocked elsewhere. Should I try and get at the pump from underneath and check that next do you think?

    Re: Siemens dishwasher not drainining

You will not be able to get at the pump from underneath, access is very difficult and is done through the front lower plinth after removing the door as well.
If it flicks round then the pump is fine as long as it actually runs.

Please give us the model number, it makes our job so much easier.

Have you checked the outlet pipe at the sink/waste pipe end?

The small black rubber insert is a non return valve, if you carefully pull that out then you can try and unblock the pipe from the sink end by blowing down it or flushing it through.

    Re: Siemens dishwasher not drainining

    Hello all,

I read this thread a few days ago and did what was suggested to try and solve the same problem with my Siemens dishwasher.

    The model is: S9VT1S

I’ve had problems with this machine not returning to ‘0 mins’ when the cycle is finished and this is a known problem. So, just wondering if the latest problem is to do with the control unit as well…

Anyway, I disconnected the drain hose and appear to have found no blockages – tested by blowing through that end and could see the bubbles coming up at the base of the dishwasher.

I then checked the impeller which is moving correctly, but unable to pump the water out? :rolls:

I removed the black rubber non-return valve but that made no difference either.

Do you guys have any suggestions on what else I could try to get this thing to work?

Thanks in advance for the help! 🙂

When you try to start any programme the first thing that should run is the drain pump, can you hear any noise at all during the first 15 or 20 seconds of starting a programme?

    Hi,

    Thanks for the quick reply.

I can only really hear the impeller working and then water starts flowing through. If I shut-off the water and run the drain setting, the impeller starts running but the water does not flow out.

In fact, just running a rinse cycle has caused the dishwasher to fill even more with water. When I now run the drain setting, I just hear a grinding noise.

    Faulty pump maybe?

    Re: Siemens dishwasher not drainining

Its more likely to be a foreign body stuck in or under the pump impellor.

Small pieces of glass are quite common but very hard to see, thats why you need to be careful poking around the impellor with your fingers.

One trick that is often used is to remove the ‘L’ shaped cover and switch the machine on at the start of any programme for a few seconds. This will often throw the offending article out into the tub.

Failing that you could have a faulty pump.

I’m going to resize that damned picture as well, its bugging me now having to scroll sideways to read the posts. I would need a 42″ screen to fit all of that in. 👿

    Re: Siemens dishwasher not drainining

    Hi iadom,

I have already removed the L-shaped cover you mention and got as far as removing the black rubber valve. The impeller moves freely – I jammed the catch in the door, which made the machine believe the door was closed and actually saw it working. So, I don’t think the problem is here 🙂

I guess this means the pump must be at fault, in which case, I think it’s time for a new machine – given this already had a timer fault! 😡

    Or maybe an electrical fault?

The pump wont drain well without the L shaped cover back in place.
I assume you put it back in?

The pump is not a great expense and if you are absolutely certain that you have no obstructions in the outlet pipe or plumbing then it should be worth changing.

What you describe does sound like pieces of glass or similar though.

Yeah, I did put the cover and valve back in place and then gave it another go.

Really? I had a quick look on Google and the pump was around £130. I will check the outlet pipe again but I’m pretty sure it is clear. I could quite happily blow air through the other side and see it coming through the dishwasher. Also, the filters are usually quite good so I was thinking other than fat deposits, I could not see what else might get in there?

    However, you never know!

    Re: Siemens dishwasher not drainining

    £130.00 😯

    look no further

Glass often gets down into the sump as the filter is lifted out due to the fact that small shards are virtually invisible in the bottom of the tub.

We also remove bits of food (sweetcorn common) bone, fragments of china, cocktail sticks, etc on a regular basis.
