ParticipantModel SN25M230UK. A Engineer looked at it but then covid outbreak happened so just getting it sorted now. Problem is :- On any wash cylce it starts ok but after a few minutes the screen goes blank and machine goes silent. No buttons work at this stage so the program can’t be cancelled or interupted and i don’t think the machine can be turned off either. After a few more minutes it comes back on and the countdown display re-lights but hasn’t counted down this ‘off’ time. Consequently it takes many times longer to do a wash then it should. No error code is displayed. Water flow seems fine and filter is clean. The engineer said ‘probably the circuit board/control module, will probably be expensive if it’s even available and machine is 10yrs old (now 12yrs old) never worth repairing’. However i went on Siemens site recently and new conrol module was £58 so i got one, it was easy to fit but hasn’t cured the problem, I’m hoping to send it back. Any ideas what the fault could be ? It heats up ok, is there a heat cut out ? or a Capacitor / mains filter problem? Or Power module maybe ? – Siemens site shows 2 types are available for that machine, 1 programmed and 1 non programmed, i don’t know which it would be, they’re £140 & £120 respectively but very easy to access. Or maybe it’s something else. If it is an axpensive part maybe machine isn’t worth it. Thanks for your help. Happy to give more info if needed.

Moderatorhas to be a progammed module
have you checked
1 the socket. try plugging into a different socket, use an extension cable if needed2 have you checked the plug into the main module at the rear

ParticipantThank you electrofix, Dave.
Can i ask how you know it’s the programmed module type rather than the unprogrammed one ? Siemens site shows both are available for this model but it doesn’t say how to know which one ! And the number printed on it doesn’t correspond with either part nr.
1. No i haven’t checked the socket. As power is there i assumed it was ok and it was never a problem before. But i could check it. Thanks.
2. Yes the mains lead is firmly in the main module. I’ve even had the module out to make sure i could change it if needed and I put it back firmly until it ‘clicked’.So if i do a socket test and the machine still has the fault do you think it’s the main power module causing the problem ? the one the power lead attaches to and has all the wiring going off it via clips. Or could it be anything else ?
It’s actually my parents machine and i’m not sure they will want to spend £140 on a 12 yr old machine, especially having just bought the control module and an on/off switch.
Thanks again for your help.August 31, 2021 at 11:45 am #478802electrofix
Moderatorall modules need software to work, if you get the unprogrammed one you would need the ability to programme the board for your machine

ParticipantThank you Dave
Socket test was ok.
Thankfully Siemens have agreed to take the parts back and offer a refund so no money lost. But i doubt they’ll do it again and I think the machine is too old to risk £120 on main module as any other part could fail at any time so we’ll will probably scrap it. Thanks again for your help. -
