ParticipantHelp! I have a fantastic Siemens washing machine which in 5 years of thrice weekly use has never caused any trouble. Unfortunately, in the last 3 months it has started to shake like mad whenever it goes above about 600rpm. This happens regardless of load and makes the most horrendous rattling noise, which only stops if I lean against the door or front panel. I have done all the obvious checks re loose fixings, levelling and whether the machine is touching against anything else but to no avail.
The machine stands in a 1st floor kitchen on ‘engineered board’ flooring, which is laid over floorboards with heavy duty joists. I am aware that sometimes wood flooring can cause problems, but the rattle started before this was installed so I’m not sure a sheet of plywood is the answer.
Does anyone have any other ideas please? (All advice gratefully received!) 😕May 15, 2005 at 10:00 pm #134800eastlmark

The front panel on that machine is removable and secured by 3 screws, one at the top behind the soap dispenser, the othe two under the plastic kick plate at the bottom. Check none of these have worked loose.

And the pump filter – under the kick panel.

Your machine has 4 adjustable feet that can be raised or lowered to compensate for any uneven floor deficiencies. It is important that once the correct positioning of each foot has been established, its locking nut is firmly tightened. In my experience, very often those locking nuts are overlooked and therefore not tightened at all!

Hi Guys
Thanks so much for your help – I checked all those things. Everything seemed ok, but I readjusted and bought some rubber pads to put beneath the ‘feet’ – and I now have a lovely quiet machine again! 😛
