After a brief interuption to the power to the freezer, it refuses to start up again. It emits a serier of clicks after which the compressor appears to “stall”? This has happened on one occiasion previusly and, having switched the freezer off for 2-3 days, it started up for the engineer who came out.

I’d be grateful for any tips as to how we might be able to solve the problem

    Hi,

Normally that is indicative of a goosed compressor, which is not good news. But can you give us some more info, like the model number and approx. age of the unit?

IIRC you should have a 2 year warranty then, so best get Appliance Care to have a look at it I’d say.

thanks very much. I’ll certainly check the warranty. I guess there’s no particular reason the compressor should fail to start immediately after a power cut?

No not really, but it seems to be a fairly common occurence as I’ve seen or heard of it a fair bit after a power cut. I suspect that if the compressor was already a bit iffy then this is just enough to pop it. 😕
