Siemens fridge freezer. Ice maker.water not freezing in tray

Siemens American fridge freezer model no: KA58NA40GB/09

Water not freezing in ice cube tray. Have pressed reset button, tray is turning and filling with water but not freezing. normal ice cube trays are freezing placed on top shelf. Temp set at -18

The fan motor in the freezer will be faulty and you will need an engineer to replace it.

Thanks for your reply.

If it needed a new fan motor would the whole freezer not work?
It’s the water in the ice cube maker that’s not freezing.

Also the fridge and water is not chilling. What would I need for that?

The fridge problem is also down to the fan motor not working as it takes the cold air from the freezer to cool it.

If the fan is not working the no cold air can be blown into the fridge

Have taken the back off. The large motor with fan at the back of it is turning “Is that the motor you mean?”

Also had a look at the small plastic fan at the back of what is saying Multi-airflow in the fridge, that is not turning?

Is the large black ball at the back the compressor? That is warm.

The fans are inside the fridge and freezer compartment if you open the doors one at a time you can check the fans are working by pressing the light switch and holding it in.

There is a delay of about 30 seconds for the fans to start.

If. The compressor is running then the fans inside the freezer and fridge should work after you have held the light switch in for 30 seconds.

The most common fault is the freezer fan motor.

Have done what you asked.
Freezer fan not coming on.
fridge fan is coming on.
So doe’s that mean cold air from freezer is not being transferred to fridge?
Food in freezer seems ok, but filled ice maker with ice but is melting. Is that because the fan is not circulating air?

So do I need freezer fan motor?

This is the fan motor in the freezer faulty and not circulating the air.

Very useful Q & A – thanks. I have exactly the same ‘challenge’. Just wondered if there was an answer to the last question and how it all concluded. I have completed diagnosis with your help now just need to put the fix in place.

The fan is inside the freezer is the most common problem.

The Siemans fridge freezer is made by Daewoo so buy the Daewoo fan motor as it is a lot cheaper.

Thanks very much Bob.
Complicating things – I was away for a few days and on return rechecked the Fans (fridge & freezer) – this time it’s very clear they both work (using the light switch test). Before, I left the freezer door open pressed the light switch, waited 30 seconds and there was a faint sound but I couldn’t see the fan turning. This time it is louder and clearly turns. Before I left I pulled the whole machine into the centre of the room ( not sure that has any significance).

The fridge is cool but not as low as it should be. Freezer is freezing still. Not sure it’s still reaching target temperature at the top and still have no understanding of why the ice box leaks.

So, no idea really but could it be thermostat?
