ParticipantI have a Siemens tall aluminium fridge about 7 years old model number KS538R95 and it’s now on its second door.
The problem is that it is hinged on a pin that locates into a hole in the door. Over a period of time the plastic case on the bottom of the door fractures due to the weight of the door and the hinge pin enters the casing thus dropping the door level. This means that the door does not align properly with the interior light cut off switch, leaving the light on and heating the contents.
I got the door changed under guarantee within 12 months but the replacement suffered the same problem within another 12 months. Since then I’ve managed to keep repairng the frcture by placing washers on the pin to raise the door, but this is becoming more difficult as the washers also get forced into the door casing.
Has anyone else had a similar problem and is anyone aware of a permanent fix?

Thanks how much do new doos cost and where do you get them from, we live in the Isle of Man so there’s probably no local stockist?

ParticipantThere may be a fixing kit where you can fit an added ‘foot’ to the door hinge bracket but i will need the full Enr number to check

ParticipantUnfortunately , Your model is not one i have listed as having the strengthened hinge available. If you do replace the door , i would look at fitting a washer prior to fitting onto the hinge to help spread the load once the door is hooked on. I’d also think about keeping the load a little lighter in the door compartments.
There is an official spacer/washer – called a disc available that fits over the hinge point . The part number is 170767 and worth ordering a couple as they are only pence.

Thanks just my luck, we’ve been keeping the door almost empty but it still doesn’t stop the caes breaking! Cant find the official part on the Siemens web site do you know where I can get them? I’m going to attempt to repair the existing door(s) I have two that have broken, don’t really want to pay £200 for a third!

Have in the past on commercials riveted plates to the bottom edge of the door to effect a better support for the hinge giving it more strength.Probably a plastic edge but still may be possible.
