Siemens grill element only half works

Hi,

I have a Siemens HB55065B built-in oven which is a touch over 2 years old. Just recently I noticed things weren’t grilling as evenly as usual, so I looked at the element while it was on. It appears that on the top level 3 setting only the outside of the element is working.

Is this likely to mean a new element or could it just be a bad connection?

Are they easy to fit?

That doesn’t quite make sense – it’s a single circuit grill element, so you should get heat throughout if it works and nothing if it doesn’t.

Can you please post the full eNr number from the rating plate around the door, may be able to narrow it down a bit more with that.

Hi there – thanks for replying, and I’m really sorry – I got the model number completely wrong. I was at work when I posted, and looked it up on a spreadsheet I made when planning the kitchen – trouble is I bought a different oven!

Anyway, the actual E-Nr is HB760650B.

Now you’re talking. Double element, centre part almost certainly failed.

P/no is 471375, about £45 from memory, email to spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk if you wish to order.

Ideally, you should meter the element to check its condition – power off of course. If you’re not sure, click the link below for a UKW engineer.

Thanks Penguin – I will order one, are they easy for me to fit? It’s easy to turn off the power, I have it on a separate circuit.

Couple of screws at the back normally and a bit of a wrestle with the support wire. Be careful not to let the wires slip back inside, or you’ll be dragging the whole oven out to retrieve them.
