We bought this Siemens Combi HB86K570B oven in January, and the interior glass on the oven door has now shattered for the second time.
Siemens have replaced it under warranrty both times, but I was wonderin if anyone else had seen this problem or had any further information.
The engineer who replaced the glass said it was caused by food getting between the glass and the metal frame of the door, but I can’t see how that can be avoided, and or things like crumbs be cleaned out from that area.
The glass shattered froma point at the bottom centre and he said that it always seemed to happen ther, which mad me think it was caused by something else.
All thoughts/ideas welcome

Not a common fault and must be isolated.

Most definately is a build up of grease around frame and glass. 99{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of shattered combi door glass is caused by this.
Grease attracts microwaves and causes hot spot. Only other thing would be enamel chipped on door frame.

I have experienced exactly the same fault, the glass in the door shattered yesterday in the same manner. Spoke to customer services from Siemens who were unhelpful as it was outside of the two year warranty. They said that they were not aware of this occurring even when I referred to this post on the internet. The only information which I can find on this happening refers to this particular oven. Would be interested if anyone else has had similar problems with this particular model or other ovens. I was also disappointed with the response from the customer services representative and will be using other companies in the future.

Not a “fault”, it’s a result of food debri/grease not being removed from the inner door.Read the postings above. 🙂

We have just moved into a new-build house with a brand new HB632GB.1B oven and the inner glass door just ‘exploded’ and shattered all over the floor and around our 8 month old baby.
It has nothing to do with trapped food or grease as this oven is brand new!

The reasons above are valid in this scenario. But there are many other reasons and thoughts as to why this happens.
A good article here gives a lot of info and is well worth a read.
I assume the oven door was in the down position when your inner glass broke? was the oven in use at the time?
