Our built in Siemens Inno-wave microwave oven ignores the start button – all other functions on the control panel work and pushing the stop button once cancels any progam – this suggests that it thinks the door is open as normally pushing the stop button once only pauses a program and pushing it twice or opening the door and pushing it once cancels all programming. Obviously it shouldn’t start with the door open either so this logically all seemed to point to a faulty microswitch on the latching mechanism. Confidently, and with the usual bloodbath from sharp edges, I stripped it down to access the door microswitches only to dissapointingly find that all 3 are fine ( 2 normally open and one normally closed all switching when the door is closed)
That sort of messed me up as I assume that means an electronic fault?

Any ideas where to look next or where to take it for repair as it was £500 new! and is built in with a model specific kit ( which wasn’t cheap either )

    Regards and thanks in advance

With the high voltages present inside ( even when un plugged)
I would see pro help in this instance 😉
Please feel free to use the repairs@ link on the left hand side.

I’m with Greg here. Please do not attempt any further repairs yourself.

As Greg said extremely high voltages are stored within a microwave even when the power is off.

Get some pro help on this one.

Well despite the great logic I was wrong – it was just a fractured post on the switch mounting on the control panel PCB – was pretty impossible to solder up as they are minute so I swapped it for one of the other switches which never get used and it is fine now – thanks for the good safety advice but this was, in the end, fiddly and didn’t involve delving into the higher voltage stuff and unusually the control panel came off very easily

All well and good in this instance, but for future readers of this post; the dangers are very real despite the blatant disregard for our safety guidance to Superdoc. Superdoc could quite have easliy been Superdead :rolls:
