I’m a little out of my comfort zone with these expensive boards. Customer reported a loud bang and the left hand side of this hob has stopped working. It appears to respond to programming but then just flashes the funny backwards ‘g’ symbol in both windows. RHS is working normally.
Inspection of the board, showed that it had blown on the underside where it is marked – on the top side – for a glass fuse holder. This is not present and I presume that a narrow PCB track now serves as a fuse. This track appears to lead up to the largest (4-terminals) component on the aluminium heat-sink and I guess that this or a component in the area has failed.
My question, before I spend out on a new board, is has anybody attempted a repair on these boards and is it feasible to buy and replace just the blown component(s) and insert a glass fuse in place of the blown track? (If anyone has any positve comments I will also need to know the value and characteristics of a replacement fuse)
The induction coils seem to check out ok – continuity and no shorting wires – so does anyone know of any reason, other than a component failure on the board that might cause this? I’d hate the new one to go pop!
