    Hello peeps 😀
Has anyone come across a fault on the above Siemens `american style` fridge freezer where although the Ice maker works fine the actual despenser “chute” fails to open allowing ice to fall into a glass etc. below?
The Ice cubes are large and properly formed so no excessive temperature imbalance is evident and the water flow from the nozzle is ok, just the problem that the grey plastic flap at the bottom of the chute no longer `clicks` and opens? You can manually open the flap but it defeats the object?
The unit is evenly balanced as the tops of the doors match so I have no obvious known symptoms to address?
Also noted a `test`button on the underside of the Ice making device inside the freezer but no idea what this maybe for?
    Many praises for any feedback!

    Hi
When you say the icemaker works fine, do you mean it makes ice or it makes the usual motor auga sound but flap stays shut when you call for ice ?
The Test button is mainly for engineers to force the ice maker unit to simulate a cycle thus being able to tell its faulty or not, easily.

There is a dispenser lock IIRC that only stops the ice dispenser but allows the water to work ok.

Check the manual for details on how to lock/unlock :rtm:

    thank you for the replies,
The ice-cubes are forming normally and the metal coil screw that also grinds to crush the ice is ok, the Ice cubes or crushed ice is propelled to the front and falls down the chute but hits the flap that does not open as it should do immediately when you press the pad with a glass/mug etc. It makes all the usual noises apart from the initial snap when the trap should open?
To repeat: You have to pull the trap open with your fingers so the built up Ice falls.
The trap is obviously some form of powered circuit that should relay when the pad is pressed and the selector is on ice cubes or crushed ice, as opposed to water which is not behind the trap. :o)
I`ve scrutinised the manual no end of times but no details regarding the trap that should open and close as an airlock for the freezer compartment are detailed?

    Hi Claire,

I personally havent worked on your model but I have looked at the pictures of it.

There will be a solenoid or mechanism behind the control panel which operates the flap.looking at the appliance the access is either there are a couple of screws within the dispensor cavity or you have to strip the door down from the inside ( door seal, liner, insulation ect ) as it is a full stainless door.

This wont be a repair for yourself to carry out.

Thank you for the info `Bryan`
Got an engineer booked in to check it out, will try to observe as much as I can whilst he gains access etc. for future occurences after the guarantee runs out.
Will try looking to find if this is an isolated case or a more common fault but I assume their aint that many of this model about?
    thanks again.

    Hi
Been to a Neff equivalent today funny enough 😀
Glad you have an engineer booked and hopefully soon on the road to ice dispensing. 😉
It does sound like the solenoid drive for the ice shute may have died and/or module that feeds it.
Keep us posted anyway as it makes a good read for us 8)
